Standing Out In New York City

New York City is an awesome place to go shopping.  People literally come from around the world to check out all the stores that NY has to offer.  Any day of the year, you can stroll the streets of Soho or Midtown and see people carrying around shopping bags.  With such great options available, how do you know where you are supposed to go when you actually make it to New York?  You might have a couple shops you know you need to see, but we think we have something truly unique in NYC.

When you come to our store, you get more than just a shoe store experience.  You get to visit one of the most creative places in the entire city.  When you stroll in, you can see a cool office with our hardworking tech team brainstorming new ideas.  You take a right and you'll see our showroom.  Maybe at the same time in the back table, you'll see a meeting happening with someone we are doing a collaboration with.  Then you can go through the door on the right again and walk into our photo studio.  Head through the secret doors and you'll see our "shoe box" event space, which also leads you directly to our factory.  Walk to the left and you'll see our leather room, which resembles the beginning of the process for making our shoes.

With all that awesome stuff you get to see, we hope you'll agree we really stand out in NYC.  You'll also have opportunities you won't have anywhere else in the city.  You can work with one of our designers to customize your own pair of shoes or booties.  Shopping has never been so fun.  We love talking to our customers, so come in, relax, take a tour, and chat us up and hang out for a while.

Snakeskin Booties Video!

Our snakeskin booties are becoming ever more popular as time moves on.  We wanted to put together a quick video that gives an overview of our collection of booties that use snakeskin leather.  We use leather of multiple types and apply them to some of our most popular shapes.

The word is starting to get out as celebrities like Kate Hudson have been spotted wearing our snakeskin booties recently.  Fashion bloggers from all over the world are starting to take notice as well.

How to Wear a Bootie

On At Modern Vice, we do boots best. We’re huge advocates of incorporating booties into every look, so in our new blog segment How To Wear A Bootie…we’ll show you how to style our boots in every situation, whether you’re going for a casual night out or going to a formal meeting, we will have your back, well, more like feet.

Our first installment of HTWAB is How To Wear A Bootie To Work. “Work shoes” have such a bad reputation of being limiting because we’re either on our feet all day, in an office, or both. Because of this, we sometimes may sacrifice fashion for function, but it doesn’t have to be this way! Boots and booties are the perfect medium because they give support and come in a practically infinite assortment of styles. I’ve broken down this segment into my three favorite ways to style my outfits, hopefully this guide will help inspire and alleviate any hesitation about booties in the workplace!

Matchy, Matchy 

Being consistent with your color palette is the easiest way to style booties into any outfit. Matching the color of your pants or tights elongates your legs and makes for a sleek, clean look. Breaking up the look with different colored shoes and a matching top also ties an outfit together.

Go Bold & Contrast

Wearing a monochromatic outfit with bold, contrasting shoes has been my go-to formula for getting dressed each day. If you’re worried or think monochromatic = boring, play with textures and mix up shapes with your garments.

Which brings me to our last, but certainly not least, category: 

Texturize

Fringe and Kiltie booties are a fun way to spice up and add texture to any look. Kiltie booties are great because you’re essentially getting two pairs of shoes in one, if it’s removable.
